The Sustainable Development Report 2019 is out
The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Bertelsmann Stiftung published in June the Sustainable Development Report 2019, formerly known as the SDG Index. This report analyses the performance of the 17 SDGs in 162 countries and classifies them in a ranking, although it also points out that no country in the world has yet achieved the objectives, nor will they do by 2030.
The study includes contributions from Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs (Columbia University), the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. For the first time, the results of the study have been statistically audited by the European Commission.
The data for the preparation of the study is obtained by international organisations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the OECD. In the writing, the coordinators have also used data generated by research centers and civil society. This means that, as in previous editions, the analysis is limited by the availability, quality and comparability of the data, which should allow a comparison between a great diversity of countries.
Spain has advanced several positions compared to last year and is placed in the 21st position, although still below the Nordic countries, in particular Denmark, Sweden and Finland, which continue to lead the classification.
