Anoia River
The Anoia River is the main river basin that crosses the region to which it gives its name. At its source are four springs between Calaf and Argençola. However, it is not until they converge in the municipality of Jorba that we can properly speak of the Anoia River.
It flows into the Llobregat River, in the municipality of Martorell. It is 68 km long and runs through the municipalities of Jorba, Igualada, Santa Margarida de Montbui, Vilanova del Camí, La Pobla de Claramunt, Capellades, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Gelida and Martorell.
Historically, the river was one of the backbones of the Anoia region. It has been a source of energy, especially for flour mills, paper mills and fulling mills.
