- Format:
- Web application
- Target population:
- General population, children and adolescents
- Objetive:
-
To assess the quality of a public space, whether existing or planned, from multiple perspectives relevant to the health and well-being of communities.
- Methodology:
-
It consists of a questionnaire with 14 questions on different topics, covering the physical and social elements of a place.
Respondents are asked to rate each question on a scale of 1 to 7 and can add information on current positive aspects, as well as ideas on how the place could be improved in the future.
A guide is provided for workshops, walkabouts, and on-site data collection.
This complements the questionnaire, to work collaboratively on the improvement of a place.
The tool is designed so that different groups can use it: the community, the public sector, the third sector (voluntary and non-profit organisations) and the private sector.
The resulting diagram is intuitive, showing on a single spider graph areas in which the space is satisfactory, and areas in which it can be improved.
- Opportunities and limitations:
-
Simple applicability to different types of spaces, both pre- and post-intervention.
Different projects can be evaluated and compared with the current state of the space.
There are several adapted versions of the tool with a focus on: climate, air quality, the design of spaces, children and adolescents.
Although it addresses multiple dimensions of a neighbourhood or study space, it does not go into depth on any of them.
