Objetive:

This tool allows you to record people moving through a space.

No mapping is required.

Methodology:

Observation technique that consists of recording, in 10-minute periods, how many people cross an invisible line that intersects the study space. The number of people who cross this line is recorded and the mode of movement (e.g. walking, running, cycling, with a baby stroller, etc.).

Opportunities and limitations:

This tool provides information on the use made of a public space at different times of the day and how accessible it is by different modes of transport.

It is a multifaceted tool, as it can be used in a wide variety of spaces (parks, squares, streets, bus stops, etc.).

It can be focused on a specific observation point or different observation points can be accumulated that are then recorded on a map.

Indicators:
Number of people who cross the study space on foot.
Number of people running through the study space.
Number of people who cross the study space by bicycle.
Number of people who cross the study space assisted (e.g. in a wheelchair).
