Format:
Guide
Target population:
Local administrations and citizen associations
Objetive:

A reflexion on the possibilities of artificial intelligence to contribute to greater “collective intelligence” around projects that address the climate crisis while empowering communities.

Methodology:

The Civic AI tool helps model collective, sustainable projects to which artificial intelligence (AI) can contribute in a positive way.

A visual guide presents the components (datasets, digital infrastructure, AI models, community contributions, etc.) that make up an open public service ecosystem and describes how the parts interact.

To visualize the possible synergies between AI and greater “collective intelligence” of the population, three case examples are shown: an urban forest, a collective climate action project, and a collective energy generation and use project.

Opportunities and limitations:

A visual guide with an original approach and attractive graphic presentation.

Although it has an approach/operation framework and case examples, it serves only as a reference for the design and implementation of a project.

Although disadvantaged neighbourhoods or vulnerable people could particularly benefit from such projects, the contribution of AI in the form of specific applications may not be available or effective in these groups.

Indicators:
Number of local administrations/agents involved.
Percentage of people who feel they belong in the neighbourhood/community.
Level of air pollution.
Level of noise pollution.
Greenhouse gas emissions per person linked to energy consumption.
Percentage of people who feel they can influence their environment.
Thematic:
Housing and neighbourhood communities Public space Green infrastructure Mobility and accessibility Equipment and services Cohesion and social capital
Link to health:
Social
Scale of the field of study:
Block - set of buildings or spaces Neighbourhood (or higher) Housing / street / building / bounded public space
Methodological approach:
Observation Qualitative / Participatory Questionnaire
