Registre d'autoritat

En el món de les biblioteques, un registre d’autoritat conté les formes vàlides de noms i títols amb els quals s’identifiquen persones, institucions i noms geogràfics, entre altres, amb l’objectiu de normalitzar els catàlegs bibliogràfics i afavorir la cerca i la recuperació de la informació. En un registre d’autoritat es fan constar les formes vàlides i les no vàlides, les variants i les formes relacionades. El conjunt de registres d’autoritat conformen el catàleg d’autoritats.
