Carte de visite

La “carte de visite” o carta de vista és el nom d’un format estàndard de fotografia patentat pel fotògraf francès Eugène Disdéri el 1854 amb unes mides aproximades de 5,5 x 9 cm. A partir d’ una càmera amb objectius múltiples s’obtenia un sol negatiu amb diverses vistes que es positivava sobre paper a l’albúmina, resultant diverses imatges que es muntaven posteriorment sobre cartó. La invenció de Disdéri va reduir el preu de les fotografies i va afavorir la circulació massiva, fins al punt que es va parlar del fenomen de la “cartemania”.
